Felt
Patterns
Felting Tips to Keep in Mind: Only protein fibers from hairy
beasts will felt such as sheep's wool, goat's mohair if mixed with wool, and alpaca. Many bleached
or off-white and light colors do not felt well if at all. Do not use superwash
wools, synthetics, silk, or cellulose (cotton, ramie, rayon, etc.) as these will
not felt (wool blended with silk or cellulose fibers will felt if the blend is
predominantly 80% wool or more). Always try a test
sample using your yarn first. Remember to stop your washing machine during
the felting process to check your size frequently as most of these are felted to
fit!
Warning: Felting can be habit forming!

Lace
Moebius Scarf: Design by Sarah Hauschka. "While the
usual way to make a moebius is to knit a rectangle, give it a half twist
and join the ends, Sarah gives us a wonderfully unique way of achieving
this shape. Sarah's instructions have you cast on in a manner that will
automatically generate the half twist. This cast on becomes the center of
your scarf and you then work the single edge out from this center line. No
joining is necessary, when your moebius is the desired width, an attached
border is worked, leaving just 3 stitches to join." Requires 450 yards of a

Ruffles &
Ridges:* Design by
Joanne Clark. Edged with a sassy ruffle and featuring extra long "ties",
both sizes can be worn in many ways. A simple pattern of 3 rows of
stockinette alternating with 3 rows of reverse stockinette creates the
ridge pattern. Instructions are given for two sizes: small is 17" (43cm)
deep and 70" (178cm) wide at top edge; large is 21" (53cm) deep and 102"
(259cm) wide at top edge. This pattern is easily adjusted for other
sizes or other weights of yarn. Approximately 450 (850) yards (411 or
777 meters) of DK or light worsted weight yarn. Shawl is worked back and
forth in rows on needles size 9 US (5.5mm) circular at least 40" (100cm)

A Set
of Wedding Accessories:* Make
one or make them all. These fun pieces are relatively simple and quick, yet can
serve as heirlooms when "gussied up" with applied heading. There are choices for
using thread single or double-stranded for those with limited time and/or
patience. The gloves in particular are very practical for freeing up the ring
finger! I've personally made several for friends' weddings and wore a version of
garter and gloves for my own wedding in '92. Garter and Headpiece are totally
flexible as to size. Gloves are sized for S (M, L) with wrist measurements of
6.3" (7.3, 8.3)" and top of forearm 9 (10, 11". All sizes are 8" high from wrist
to top. The Pillow Top is offered in two sizes with the smaller version
approximately 8" across at widest point and larger version approximately 10".
Use size 10 mercerized cotton thread: 65yds for Garter; 75yds for 22" Headpiece
single strand or 160yds double strand; Gloves S - 275yds, M - 300yds, L -
325yds; Small Pillow Top 75yds single strand; Large Pillow Top 170yds double
strand. Use needles size 1 (2.25mm) for single strand garter or headpiece; size
3 (3.25mm) for double strand headpiece or single strand pillow top; size 5
(3.75mm) for gloves and double strand pillow top.

Reversibly Cabled Afghan:*
Knit this thick, warm afghan on large needles in Lily's signature
reversible cables. When it's not wrapped snugly around you, leave it tossed over
the back of a chair or couch without ever worrying that the so-called wrong
side is exposed. You will need approximately 2300 yards of a heavy worsted
weight yarn. A wool or other natural fiber is recommended to allow for proper
blocking. Use 29" or 31" (80cm) circular knitting needles in sizes 9 (5.5mm) and
11 (8mm) or size to obtain gauge.
